High Gas Bill in Korea? 5 Things to Check Before Paying

If your gas bill in Korea is unusually high, first check your usage, meter readings, unpaid balance, and heating settings. If the amount still looks wrong, contact your gas supplier before the payment deadline.

Opening a gas bill that is much bigger than last month’s can be a shock, especially in your first Korean winter. Korean billing terms are often unfamiliar if you’ve never seen a Korean utility notice before.

This guide uses official billing information from Seoul City Gas (서울도시가스), one of several gas suppliers serving parts of Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, along with Kiturami’s official winter guidance. Your own supplier depends on your address. Check the company name and contact number printed on your bill before you do anything else.

If your heating charges appear on your apartment maintenance bill (관리비) instead of a separate gas bill, ask your building management office how those charges are calculated.

What Is on a Korean Gas Bill?

Seoul City Gas explains each bill item on its official page. Start with the first three rows, since those are the ones you’ll use most. The last three rows are calculation details that most readers can skip.

    Bill item What it means
금액 (amount) This month’s charge plus any unpaid amount.
당월 사용량 (this month’s usage) This month’s meter reading minus last month’s reading, in cubic meters (㎥).
사용계약번호 (contract number) A 10-digit number given to each customer. It stays the same every month unless you move. Have it ready when you call.
보정계수 (correction factor) Gas volume changes with temperature and pressure, so a correction factor is applied. A local government sets it once a year.
평균열량 (average heat content) The monthly weighted average heat content of the gas, in MJ/N㎥.
사용열량 (heat used) The billed quantity (고지량) multiplied by the average heat content.

For homes, Seoul City Gas’s rate page shows the calculation as usage × correction factor × average heat content × unit price, plus a basic charge and a replacement fee, plus 10% VAT. The page notes that its calculator gives a rough figure only. Homes that use gas for both cooking and heating are billed at the cooking rate up to 516 MJ.

    • Check the amount (금액) first — it includes any past unpaid balance.
    • Check the usage (당월 사용량) next — it drives most of the charge.
    • Keep your contract number (사용계약번호) ready for any phone call.

    1. Check the Billing Period and Usage Behind a High Gas Bill in Korea

Compare the billing dates and gas usage (㎥) with your previous bill. A longer billing period can also push the total amount higher, even without a real change in how you heat.

The usage figure is simply this month’s reading minus last month’s reading. A big jump here means the meter actually counted more gas, or the readings differ from what you expected.

Write down both readings if the number looks too high. You’ll need them for the call later.

    • Note the start and end dates of the billing period.
    • Compare this month’s usage (㎥) with last month’s.
    • Record both meter readings before contacting anyone.

    2. Check Whether It Was a Real Reading or an Estimate

A meter reading means someone actually read the number (지침) shown on the gas meter. According to Seoul City Gas, if the meter sits inside your home, you read it yourself on the set day and write it on the self-reading card left at your door. You can also enter the number on the company’s website during the reading period.

Tell the call center (1588-5788) or your customer center within the reading period if you couldn’t read the meter on the right day. Doing so lets them bill you an accurate amount instead of a guess.

Sometimes the company can’t calculate your usage at all — for example, if no one was home or the meter is broken. In that case, it estimates from your past usage under its supply rules and settles the difference the next month. This is called 인정고지 (estimated billing). A bill that looks too high or too low this way can still be corrected the following month.

Separate readings also happen when gas service starts or ends, and when the user of a home changes.

    • Meter inside your home? You read and report it yourself.
    • Missed the reading day? Call 1588-5788 within the reading period.
    • No reading possible? Expect an estimate, corrected next month.

    3. Check Whether Unpaid Amounts Are Included

Seoul City Gas states that the amount on the bill equals this month’s charge plus any unpaid amount. A total that looks too large may simply include money still owed from earlier. A high gas bill in Korea doesn’t automatically mean a mistake — it could just be an old balance catching up.

If you pay by transferring to the bill’s payment account, check first whether someone else in your household already paid. Shared households sometimes end up double-checking the same bill.

A supply suspension notice (공급중지 예고장) can be issued with a suspension date if a bill stays unpaid past its due date. The page states that supply is stopped if the bill remains unpaid after two or more reminders.

    • Confirm whether anyone else already paid this bill.
    • Look for an unpaid balance carried over from a previous month.
    • Don’t ignore a suspension notice — contact the supplier right away.

    4. Check Your Boiler Settings and Heating Habits

If the usage really is high, look next at how you heat your home. Kiturami’s official winter guidance (January 21, 2026) offers a few points worth comparing against your own settings.

    • A room temperature of 18 to 21°C is recommended in winter.
    • Lower the set temperature when you go out, instead of turning the boiler off completely. Turning it off before a long absence can increase the heating cost when you restart it after coming home.
    • Insulation and draft-proofing reduce heat loss.
    • A boiler used for 10 years or more can lose efficiency, which raises heating costs.

This guidance comes from Kiturami specifically. Other brands work differently, so check your own model’s manual before changing any settings.

If you’re unsure how to use your boiler controller, read our Korean Ondol Floor Heating Guide. If your boiler displays an error code, check our Korean Boiler Error Codes Guide. During freezing weather, keep your boiler powered according to the manufacturer’s guidance — see our Frozen Pipes in Korea: No Water or Heat? What to Do guide for cold-weather problems.

    5. Ask the Gas Company About a High Gas Bill in Korea

Don’t let the due date pass while you wait for an answer. If anything on the bill looks wrong, contact the supplier before the due date and ask what to do about payment.

Call the company listed on your own bill if the charge still doesn’t make sense. For Seoul City Gas, the main number is 1588-5788. Give your contract number, then ask about the points covered above. A regional customer center can also be found on the company’s website.

    • Have your contract number ready before you call.
    • Ask about the billing period, the reading type, and any unpaid balance.
    • Check the regional customer center if your supplier differs from Seoul City Gas.

Here are a few Korean phrases you can use on the call:

    English Korean
This month’s gas bill is higher than usual. Could you check it? 이번 달 가스요금이 평소보다 많이 나왔어요. 확인해 주실 수 있나요?
Was this bill based on an actual reading or an estimate (인정고지)? 이번 고지서는 실제 검침 기준인가요, 인정고지인가요?
Does this amount include an unpaid balance? 이번 청구 금액에 미납금이 포함돼 있나요?
Could you tell me last month’s and this month’s meter readings? 전월 지침과 당월 지침을 알려 주실 수 있나요?
Could you tell me the meter reading date? 검침일을 알려 주실 수 있나요?
My contract number is … 사용계약번호는 …입니다.

If you rent, you can also ask your landlord: 가스요금 고지서를 받았는데 금액이 많아서 확인하고 싶어요. 계량기 위치와 검침 방법을 알려 주실 수 있을까요?

    Frequently Asked Questions

Is a high gas bill always a billing error?
No. Check usage, whether it was a real reading, and whether unpaid amounts are included before assuming a mistake.

What if I was not home on the reading day?
Tell the call center or your customer center within the reading period. If the company cannot calculate your usage, it estimates from past usage and settles the difference the next month.

Should I turn the boiler off when I go out to save gas?
Kiturami recommends lowering the set temperature instead of turning the boiler off completely.

  • Frozen Pipes in Korea: No Water or Heat? What to Do

Frozen Pipes in Korea: No Water or Heat? What to Do

You turn the hot water tap, and nothing but cold water comes out. Having no hot water in a Korean apartment is especially frustrating in winter, when a cold shower is the last thing you want.

The good news is that a few quick checks can often solve the problem, or at least tell you who to call. This guide covers the situation where the boiler has power but the hot water simply isn’t coming.

If your boiler won’t turn on at all, that’s a different issue. Read our guide, Boiler Won’t Turn On in Korea: What to Check Before Calling Service, instead.

First, What Kind of Hot Water Problem Do You Have?

Before you do anything else, work out exactly what’s happening. The pattern you see points to where the problem is.

What you see What to suspect first
Neither cold nor hot water comes out Water supply, the water meter, or frozen incoming pipes
No water from the hot side only Frozen hot-water or incoming pipes
Water comes out but stays cold Settings, flow, or an error code on the controller
Only one tap has no hot water That tap, its mixer valve, or the pipe to it

Try turning on the bathroom and kitchen taps at the same time. If no water comes from any tap, check the water supply first. If water flows but stays cold throughout the home, the boiler or hot-water system may need attention. A problem at a single tap points to that tap.

5 Things to Check When You Have No Hot Water in a Korean Apartment

Run through these five checks before you pick up the phone. They take only a few minutes each.

    1. Check the hot water setting on the controller

Look at your wall controller first. Make sure hot water (온수) is switched on, and check that the hot water temperature isn’t set too low.

Controllers differ by boiler maker and model, so follow your model’s manual. According to the Korea Experience guide, you’ll commonly see these terms: 난방 (heating), 온수 (hot water), 온수전용 (hot water only, which turns off floor heating while keeping tap hot water running), 외출 (away mode), and 예약 (timer). If the panel itself still confuses you, our guide to the Korean ondol boiler panel breaks down what each button does.

    2. Try another tap

If only the shower runs cold, check the kitchen sink and the bathroom sink too. If those give hot water fine, the shower mixer valve is more likely the culprit than the boiler itself.

    3. Adjust how much water is flowing

A very weak stream, or water that stays lukewarm, can sometimes be fixed just by changing the flow. Turn the tap up or down slowly and watch what happens. Some boilers behave differently depending on how much water passes through.

    4. Look for an error code

Check the controller for a number or an error symbol. Write it down along with the boiler’s model name, since the same number can mean different things depending on the maker and model. Your model’s official manual is the place to confirm what it means.

If your boiler displays an error code, check our Korean Boiler Error Codes: Navien, Kiturami, Rinnai & Daesung guide for brand-specific information. Always confirm the code against your exact model.

    5. Think about frozen pipes in cold weather

If temperatures have stayed below freezing, or your pipes run somewhere exposed, freezing is a real possibility. A common sign is cold water running fine while nothing comes from the hot side.

Pipes connected to the boiler can freeze in winter and stop hot water from reaching the tap. If you suspect this, check your boiler maker’s official thawing method first. Kiturami, for example, explains thawing a frozen pipe slowly using a warm towel at about 50-60°C. If that doesn’t feel safe to do, or you spot a leak, call a professional instead.

    • Do not pour boiling water directly on the pipe
    • Do not heat it with a torch or lighter
    • Do not force a frozen valve
    • Do not take the boiler apart yourself

For a longer-term fix, our winter checklist for preventing frozen pipes in Korea covers how to stop this from happening again.

If you have no hot water during freezing weather, see our Frozen Pipes in Korea: No Water or Heat? What to Do guide to identify possible frozen areas and check when to contact your landlord or maintenance office.

Individual Boiler or Building Heating: Who Should You Contact?

Korean apartments get heat in different ways. The Seoul Metropolitan Government’s 2023 release groups apartment heating into central heating (중앙난방), district heating (지역난방), and individual heating (개별난방).

Which type you have decides who you should call, so check your lease or ask your landlord or the building’s management office (관리사무소) if you’re unsure.

Your situation Who to contact first
You have your own boiler in your unit The boiler maker’s A/S center. The Seoul release says boiler faults and abnormal operation go to the maker’s A/S center, as usual.
Heat comes from a central or district system, or you aren’t sure Your landlord or management office. Seoul Energy Corporation’s guide says to contact the management office right away if you suspect a problem with the heat meter (열량계).

How hot water is produced differs by building. If you’re not sure how yours works, ask your landlord or the management office rather than guessing.

Korean Phrases for Your Landlord or Management Office

A short, clear message tends to get a faster answer. Feel free to copy these.

    English Korean
There is no hot water. 온수가 안 나와요.
There is no hot water in the whole house. 집 전체에서 온수가 안 나와요.
Only the shower has no hot water. 샤워기에서만 온수가 안 나와요.
An error code is showing on the controller. 온도조절기에 오류 표시가 떠요.
The pipe might be frozen. 배관이 얼었을 수도 있어요.
Could you check the boiler? 보일러 좀 확인해 주실 수 있을까요?
Could you tell me the boiler’s A/S number? 보일러 A/S 번호를 알려 주실 수 있을까요?

Example message: 안녕하세요. 집 전체에서 온수가 안 나와요. 보일러 좀 확인해 주실 수 있을까요?

Try to mention four things: the boiler’s model name, the symptom, whether it’s heating or hot water that’s affected, and whether you suspect a frozen or leaking pipe.

When to Call A/S and What Not to Do

Some situations call for a professional rather than more DIY troubleshooting. Contact the manufacturer’s A/S center or your landlord in these cases:

    • An error code keeps coming back
    • Water leaks from the boiler or the pipes
    • You strongly suspect frozen pipes
    • No tap gives hot water and the basic checks didn’t help

If you ever smell gas, don’t touch electrical switches or use any flame. Move to a safe place right away and report it to 119 or your gas supplier. Never take the boiler or gas pipes apart yourself.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can the heating work while there is no hot water?

Yes. Heating and hot water operate under different conditions, so your floor heating can run normally while hot water has a separate problem.

If only the shower is cold, is the boiler broken?

Not necessarily. If the sinks still give hot water, check the shower mixer valve before blaming the boiler.

Does sudden no hot water on a cold day mean the pipes froze?

Frozen pipes can be the cause, but other problems are possible too. Check the cold water supply and the hot water at every tap together before deciding.

This guide was compiled on October 26, 2026 from the pages listed under Sources and References and manufacturer guidance. Boiler models and building heating systems differ, so always check your own boiler manual and ask your landlord or management office when in doubt.

  • Korean Boiler Error Codes: Navien, Kiturami, Rinnai & Daesung

Korean Boiler Error Codes: Navien, Kiturami, Rinnai & Daesung

If your boiler suddenly stops and the thermostat shows a number or a letter-number code, don’t panic. Most codes point to a short list of causes: ignition failure, low heating water, freezing pipes, overheating, or a communication problem.

This guide focuses on Korean domestic boiler models commonly used in apartments and officetels in South Korea, not overseas models. It covers four brands: Navien (경동나비엔), Kiturami (귀뚜라미), Rinnai (린나이) and Daesung Celtic (대성쎌틱). It provides selected error codes documented in official Korean manufacturer guides. It is not a complete list of every code.

Why the Same Code Can Mean Different Things

Error codes depend on the brand and the model, not only the brand. Daesung’s official FAQ lists A6 as an ignition failure on one product line and as overheating on another. Kiturami uses 01/02/03 on its Condensing Premium models but E001/E002/E003 on its ECO Condensing models. Navien uses E03 or E003 for ignition failure on certain models. Always check the exact model before using a code guide.

So before you trust any code table, including this one, check three things: the brand, the model name, and the code on the display.

How to Find Your Korean Boiler Model

    • Brand: the logo on the front of the boiler, usually in the boiler room, balcony utility room or kitchen side room.
    • Model name: printed on the nameplate on the side or front of the unit.
    • Error code: shown on the wall thermostat (the control panel in your living room) or on the boiler’s own display.

Take a photo of the nameplate and the thermostat screen. You will need both if you call for service. If you are not sure how to read the wall thermostat, see our guide to the boiler panel.

    Quick Error Code Reference

These are model-specific examples, not universal codes for every boiler from each brand. Check the detailed sections before taking action.

Problem type Code examples What to do
Ignition failure Navien E03, Kiturami 01·02·03, Rinnai 11·12, Daesung A6 (on applicable models) Check gas supply; call service if it repeats
Freezing, freeze protection or low heating water Navien E50, Kiturami 39·95, Rinnai 15·89, Daesung A9 (freeze-protection operation, on applicable models) Do not force restarts; check for frozen pipes or water level
Overheating Navien E16, Kiturami 96, Rinnai 16, Daesung A4·AA (on applicable models) Stop using the boiler and call service
Gas alarm Navien E14, Kiturami 97 (on applicable models) Stop using, close the gas valve, ventilate
Exhaust problem Rinnai 90·99 Stop using and call service

The brand sections below explain each code in more detail.

    What to Check First

Before anything else, write down the brand, model, code, symptom (no heating, no hot water, stops mid-operation) and when it started.

Do not turn the power off and on repeatedly, and never open or repair the boiler yourself. If you smell gas or exhaust fumes, or see overheating or leaking water, stop using the boiler and get professional help.

If the thermostat shows nothing at all and the boiler has no power, this is not an error code problem: see our guide on what to do when the boiler won’t turn on. If the problem is that you have no hot water, see our checklist.

    Navien Boiler Error Codes (경동나비엔)

The codes below come from Navien’s official NCB311 manual. Other Navien models may use a different format or meaning.

    Code Meaning Recommended action
E03 Ignition failure Check gas supply
E04 False flame detected Call service if it repeats
E05 Heating supply temperature sensor error Call service
E09 Blower fan error Call service
E11 Water level error Call service
E12 Flame lost during combustion Call service
E14 Gas alarm Stop using and take safety measures
E16 Heat exchanger overheating Stop using and call service
E28 Heating pipe leak related Check for leaks, then call service
E50 Freezing Do not run the boiler; call service

    E03: Ignition Failure

E03 means the boiler could not light or could not detect the flame. If there is no gas smell, you can check that the gas valve near the boiler is open. Look from outside to see whether the exhaust pipe or drain hose is crushed or blocked, but do not remove or repair the exhaust pipe. If E03 keeps coming back, call service.

E16, E28 and E50: Overheating, Leak and Freezing

E16 means the heat exchanger got too hot and a safety device tripped, so stop using the boiler. E28 relates to a leak in the heating pipes, so check for water around the boiler and under the manifold (the pipe distributor). E50 indicates freezing. Forcing the boiler to run can damage parts and pipes.

    Kiturami Boiler Error Codes (귀뚜라미)

Kiturami uses different code systems for different product lines. Condensing Premium models show 01, 02, 03 and so on. ECO Condensing models show E001, E002 and E003 instead. The table below covers the Condensing Premium line and follows Kiturami’s official self-diagnosis material.

    Code Meaning Recommended action
01·02·03 Ignition or flame detection error Check gas supply; restart per the manual
04 Water temperature sensor error Call service
05 Overheat sensor error Call service
06 Blower rotation detection error Call service
07 Blower rotation error Call service
08 Thermostat communication error Call service
39 Low water temperature (1°C or below) during freeze protection, on applicable models Check for frozen pipes
95 Low heating water Check automatic water refill
96 Overheat safety device activated Stop and call service
97 Gas or exhaust-related detection alarm, on applicable models Take safety measures immediately

If your Kiturami shows E001, E002 or E003 (ECO Condensing): these indicate a flame detection or ignition problem. Check that the gas valve is open, then call Kiturami service if the code returns. Don’t apply the numbers in the table above to this line.

    01, 02, 03: Ignition-Related Errors

They show up when the flame is not detected properly or a safety shutdown happens. Some models let you reset from the thermostat. If gas supply is normal and the code repeats, the igniter or sensor may need service.

    08: Thermostat Communication Error

The boiler and the wall thermostat are not exchanging signals. Do not disconnect or reconnect the wiring yourself.

    95: Low Heating Water

This is the typical “not enough water” code. Some models refill automatically and then run normally. If refilling doesn’t happen or the code stays, there may be a water supply problem or a leak.

    97: Gas or Exhaust-Related Alarm

On applicable models, 97 is a detection alarm that can relate to gas or exhaust gas. Do not restart the boiler. Close the gas valve, ventilate naturally, avoid switches and flames, and call your gas supplier or emergency services from a safe place. 97 does not mean the same thing on every Kiturami product, so check your model’s manual.

    Rinnai Boiler Error Codes (린나이)

Some Rinnai gas boilers show faults as numbers such as 11, 12, 15, 16. The table follows Rinnai’s official manual for domestic models (including the RC600).

    Code Meaning Recommended action
02 Repeated reset error Restart per the manual
07 Long hot water use detected Check hot water taps
11 Initial ignition failure Check gas supply
12 Flame went out during operation Check gas supply
14 Safety circuit or overheat protection error Stop using and call service
15 Water circulation error (on applicable models) Check water supply and freezing
16 Overheat detected Check that the heating manifold valves are open
17 Leak detected Check pipes and manifold for leaks
89 Complete freeze detected Call service
90·99 Exhaust error Stop using and call service

    11: Ignition Failure

This appears when the first ignition fails. If there is no gas smell, check whether other gas appliances work and whether the boiler’s gas valve is open. If the gas supply to the building is cut off, contact your city gas company. If the supply is fine and 11 repeats, ask Rinnai service for an inspection.

15 and 16: Water Circulation and Overheating

15 shows up on some models when heating water doesn’t circulate, so in cold weather check for frozen pipes and water supply. On some models 15 has another meaning, so read your manual first. 16 is an overheating code. Some models ask you to confirm that the manifold valves are open. If it repeats, stop the boiler and call service.

17 and 89: Leak and Freezing

17 can mean water is leaking or the boiler keeps refilling. Look around the unit, pipe joints and under the manifold. 89 means a heavy freeze on some models. Don’t try to thaw it with a heater, and don’t force a restart.

Daesung Celtic Boiler Error Codes (대성쎌틱)

Check your product type first. The same Daesung code can mean different faults on different products, such as gas boilers, oil boilers and electric boilers. For example, A6 is an ignition failure on some gas boilers but overheating on other product lines. A4 also differs by product. The table follows Daesung’s official gas boiler self-diagnosis page.

    Code Meaning Recommended action
A6 Ignition failure (applicable gas boilers) Check gas supply
A5 Overheat-prevention (dry-fire) wire break, on applicable models May relate to low heating water or pump issues; check the manual and call service
A4 Overheating (applicable models) Stop using and call service
A7 Control device error Call service
A9 Freeze-protection operation (applicable gas boilers); does not necessarily mean the pipes are frozen May clear automatically as the heating water warms up; if it stays or pipes are frozen, call service
AA·10 Heating water overheat related (applicable models) Check heating circulation
Ab Heating temperature sensor error Call service

    A6: Ignition Failure

On some gas boilers it means ignition was tried but no flame was detected. With no gas smell, check the gas valve near the boiler and whether your unit still has gas. If gas is normal but the boiler won’t light, the igniter or sensor needs inspection. On other Daesung products A6 means overheating, so confirm your model.

A9 and AA: Freeze Protection and Overheated Heating Water

On applicable Daesung gas boilers, A9 indicates freeze-protection operation. It does not necessarily mean the pipes are already frozen. The code may clear automatically as the heating water warms up. If it remains or the pipes are frozen, contact a professional.

AA can occur when heating water can’t circulate and gets too hot. You can check from outside whether the manifold valves are closed, but repeated AA needs a service check.

Codes to Watch in Cold Weather

Frozen pipes and low water are common causes of winter shutdowns:

    • Navien: E50 (NCB311), freezing
    • Kiturami: 39 and 95 (some models), low water temperature in freeze protection, low heating water
    • Rinnai: 15 and 89 (some models), water circulation error and freezing
    • Daesung: A9 (some models), freeze-protection operation

These are not the same fault under different names. They are examples of cold-weather codes, and the exact cause depends on your model.

    Before a cold snap:

    1. Check that the boiler is plugged in and powered.
    2. Check insulation on exposed water and heating pipes.
    3. Check for cold drafts at the boiler room window or pipes. Never block the boiler’s required ventilation openings.
    4. If you will be away for a long time, check your manual for the freeze-protection setting.
    5. If pipes are already frozen or leaking, get professional help.

Turning off all power to the boiler can disable automatic freeze protection on some models. Don’t switch everything off just to “be safe” in winter.

When to Stop Troubleshooting and Call for Service

Not every code is something you can fix.

    • Simple setting problem: check the manual
    • Suspected gas supply cut: contact the gas supplier
    • Low heating water: check whether your model refills automatically
    • Sensor or communication error: call service
    • Gas alarm: stop using immediately and take safety measures
    • Repeated overheating: stop the boiler and call service
    • Exhaust error: stop using and have the exhaust system checked
    • Frozen or leaking pipes: call a professional

If you smell gas, don’t use switches, outlets, or your phone inside. Close the gas valve if you can reach it safely, open windows, and leave the area. Once you are outside in a safe place, call 119 or your gas supplier. Don’t wait for your landlord to reply. Never take apart the boiler, combustion unit, gas pipes or exhaust pipe.

    Boiler Service Numbers

    • Navien: 1588-1144
    • Kiturami: 1588-9000
    • Rinnai: 1544-3651
    • Daesung Celtic: 1588-8577

If you need language assistance, ask your landlord or a Korean-speaking contact to help with the call. Have your model name, the code and the symptom ready, and a photo of the thermostat screen helps.

How to Contact Your Landlord in Korean

If you rent, tell your landlord or building manager about the code. You can copy and paste these:

    • 보일러에 에러코드가 떴어요. (The boiler is showing an error code.)
    • 에러코드는 [코드]이고, 보일러 브랜드는 [브랜드]예요. (The code is [code] and the brand is [brand].)
    • 난방이 안 되고 있어요. / 온수가 안 나와요. (The heating isn’t working. / There is no hot water.)
    • 수리 기사님 방문 가능한 시간을 알려주세요. (Please tell me when a repair technician can visit.)

Send the photo of the nameplate and the thermostat screen along with the message.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I turn the boiler off and on when an error appears?

Only if your model’s manual says to restart. If you suspect a gas leak, overheating, an exhaust problem or severe freezing, don’t restart. Get it inspected.

Why do online explanations of the same code differ?

Brands and models use different code systems. Even within one brand, the same number can mean a different fault depending on the product type.

Should I turn off the boiler during a cold snap?

On some models the power must stay on for freeze protection to work. Check your model’s freeze-prevention instructions, especially if you are away for a while.

If the code disappears, do I still need a repair?

Some errors clear by themselves, but if the code repeats or heating or hot water still doesn’t work normally, get it checked.

    Summary

When an error code appears, identify the brand, model and code first. The four brands use different code systems, and the meaning can change even within one brand depending on the model. In winter, watch for low water and frozen pipes. If you suspect a gas leak, overheating or an exhaust problem, don’t repair anything yourself and contact the official service center or your landlord.
